FC UNITED OF MANCHESTER ACADEMY 'A' TEAM 3 AVRO UNDER 21s 1
FC United of Manchester’s Academy ’A’ team recorded a useful 3-1 home win against local neighbours AVRO Under 21s under the Broadhurst Park 3G floodlights on Wednesday evening.

The Young Reds opened the scoring after just 4 minutes. LEWIS UNWIN was in the right place to steer the ball home at the far post after good build up play on the left.

On 18 minutes, AVRO drew level, with a fine shot by the visitors’ number 10 from just outside the penalty area.

And they might then have taken the lead but for a goal-line clearance by Ben Fletcher on the stroke of half-time.

Into the second half, and the FC United of Manchester Academy team were back in the lead within 76 seconds of the restart, NELSON ONWUSIRI collecting a loose ball before running in at goal and placing it wide of the visiting ’keeper.

On 51 minutes, the home side went 3-1 up as MASON GREGG netted from close range after Sam O’Donnell had burst through from midfield.

That was to prove to be the end of the scoring although shots from both Steve Affleck and Sam O’Donnell did hit the metalwork in the closing stages of the game.
