Injury forces Rory Fallon to leave FC United

Injury forces Rory Fallon to leave FC UnitedIt is with great sadness to report that Rory Fallon, one of the most talented footballers the Club has ever had, has been forced to quit FC United through injury.

The 26 year old midfielder who last appeared for FC United on 19th December 2015, has announced he will be leaving the Club to focus his energy on rehabilitation and other areas of his life.

Of his injury and decision to leave FC United Rory said:

“I’m due to have a cruciate reconstruction operation on my right knee at the start of November. Initially they didn’t think I would have to have it done after the first operation, but after coming back to light training I sustained another injury on it.

“I’ve been coming down for rehab on it the last few months and it’s killed me not being able to play. Playing football is a huge part of my life and watching, unable to play, has been hard to take.???

“The recovery from the operation is likely to take a further 6 to 9 months, so I’ll will be looking to come back for the pre-season of next season. In the meantime, I’m looking to focus my energy on other areas of my life and hope to come back as a better more rounded player when I return.???

Rory posted the following message on twitter:

Fallon joined FC United in February 2015. In the 2014/15 season he made 20 appearances, (predominantly as a substitute) and scored 2 goals; his first being in FC’s 4-0 away win at Whitby.

Last season Fallon was a regular starter in the fist team playing 26 matches and scoring four goals before sustaining his injury against Gloucester City in December.

Fallon will always be remembered for being the scorer of the first competitive goal at Broadhurst Park when he opened the scoring in FC United’s 2-1 home defeat against Stockport County on 11th August 2015.

On behalf of everyone at FC United we would like to wish Rory well for a successful recovery from his operation and thank him for his contribution over the last two seasons.
