It is with regret that we announce the resignation of our Women’s Team Manager, Lee Sutton, who has taken the difficult decision to step down from the role he has held since the team was formed in 2012.

Lee has recently been promoted at work and feels he is no longer able to sustain the 100% commitment he currently gives to the role going forward. Lee leaves the club on excellent terms and has offered to help in a transitionary capacity over the next few weeks should he be needed.

Lee approached the club in 2012 with a proposal to form an open age women’s team and despite being sometime away from having a ground of our own, the club supported the idea and the team was born. The Women’s Team was the first from FCUM to call Moston their home, playing their first two seasons across the road from our ground on Broadhurst Playing Fields, M40.

It is testament to Lee and his coaching staff that the team has enjoyed an upward trajectory, culminating in one promotion, several cup finals and attained their highest placed league position at the end of last season. Many of that first squad from 2012 are still involved with FC United to this day.

As well as thanking his coaching staff and players, Lee would also like to mention; Rob Fullen for his match reports, Marlene for the great food, Neil Boo and Mark Lee on the camera’s, the FC Radio and twitter crew, Dan for his help on match days, Bayleigh for dotting the i’s and crossing the t’s and last, but certainly not least, the fantastic supporters.

This Sunday, 23rd October sees Lee’s final game in charge. The women face Warrington Wolverines in the Argyle Cup at Broadhurst Park. Lee deserves a good send off, and as ever, the team welcomes your support, so why not get yourself down to our football ground, kick off 2pm on the 3G.

An announcement about the interim and long-term arrangements for the women’s team management will be made in the near future.
