Sam Tattum given an opportunity at FC United

Sam Tattum given an opportunity at FC UnitedSam Tattum aged 21 is a former Manchester City Academy and Wales under 17 international - Tattum registered with FC United this week and made his first appearance for the club as a second half substitute away at Spennymoor Town on Saturday.

Tattum is a product of Manchester City’s academy system which he has been a part of since the age of 11. In July 2013 the defender signed a two-year scholarship with Manchester City, but a succession of injuries limited his time on the pitch and he was forced to watch from the sidelines as his teammates lifted the u18 North Division title last term. In the 2014/15 season Tattum only missed a couple of games and was rewarded by being offered a professional contract with the club.

He was released by City in the summer of 2016, and spent time with the development squad at Sheffield Wednesday before signing for Stalybridge Celtic in September 2016.

In his very first start for Stalybridge, he suffered a terrible tackle at a Manchester Premier Cup match away at Droylsden, which meant he was unable to play again that season due to breaks in his leg and ankle.

Tattum joined FC United on trial and registered with the club on Friday 22nd December and named as one of the substitutes away at Spennymoor replacing Kieren Glynn on 69 minutes with FC trailing 4-2.
